What are the best freeware software to download?

I always wanted to use photoshop and even though i could just use it "for free," it just doesn't feel like. Luckily, I found a freeware called GIMP. I wonder if anybody out there came across awesome freeware programs that does the job much as a retail program would whether it is useful applications or fun games.

  1. Try this one : www.softlookup.com I hope you find what you're looking for.
  2. Have you tried checking for freeware on downloads.com?
  3. I like to use sourceforge.net to get software. There are tons of open source programs like the GIMP. Inkscape is a nice vector graphics program. A very good office suite is OpenOffice.org. It is largely compatible with MS Office. Shouldn't have many issues with basic formatting between the two, but complex documents may require moderate tweeking and reformatting. Scribus is a decent page layout program, but the interface isn't very friendly. It seems geared toward people who know document layout inside and out. I prefer open source software because it is most often free of charge to use, and won't put spyware and other junk on your computer like "freeware" programs tend to do.
