1. This current cable cut will take 7 to 14 days to repair according to the BBC World News. That cable runs from Europe to Egypt and then on to India and it's under the Mediterranean. A ship was drifting in heavy seas, dropped it's anchors and cut the cable in half;.. actually it's TWO cables... and it cut both of them.

Although the Indian Internet Service Providers have said they have started a downgraded service, full restoration may be possible only after 10 to 15 days... so no full fledged internet for the next couple of weeks...... 3. There has been an damage in SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable just around 12kms of Egyptian coastline. This has caused breakdown of internet over Gulf & South East Asian countries. It may take around 4-5 days to get back the full connection. This cable have several joints which connects to the countries coastline. In India this cable is connected from the coastline of Bombay, In Pakistan it is connected from Karachi, In UAE the same cable is connected from Fujairah and from Egypt the base station is Alexendria. These countries share the same cable for internet connections.
4. Internet traffic of India is affected because India's internet traffic went through these cables. I faced that slow internet problem for 2 days but I think there backup system is pretty good because now surfing speed has got back to normal, though downloading is still at tortoise speed.
