What software shows me what files a program is using in what order?

Given a program what is doing a lot of database lookups in different tables / databases. What I need to know is which table it is using first, second third etc so basically the order of the files. What I need is a software what follows the program during its run and shows me the files it is using. What software does this if there is any?
