What is a reasonable donation through Paypal for sites that provide freeware softwares?

I mostly use freeware (legal) software from various sites because I can not afford to purchase all the various softwares that I use. I really appreciate open source/ freeware softwares! All of them usually ask for a donation through Paypal but what amount would be reasonable to donate?

1. Depends on the software. How usefull it is. How often you use it. I'd say $5 - $20 is good.
2. Any amount that fits comfortably into your budget is reasonable.
3. see how much the software would cost you in the shop and then give 10-15 % of the retail price or whatever you can afford!
4. whatever you feel the software is worth. if you want to donate something, think of it as a "tip", give out certain percentage based of what the software would actually cost if retail-sold.
